The legacy of Newfin, Cerap and Pension Forum

While it is a new brand in the financial research arena, CAREFIN inherits the talents and skills of three pre-existing research units, which have been operating for many years at Bocconi, albeit with a strong focus on domestic issues and with most of their research produced in Italian.
-
Newfin, the research centre on financial innovation, was established in 1984 and since its inception has been doing research on banking and finance, accounting for new market trends, innovative financial instruments and advanced models of intermediation.
-
Cerap, the centre for research on insurance and pensions, was created in 1989 to do research based on a highly inter-disciplinary approach blending management science, law and quantitative finance.
-
The Pension Forum was created to study the characteristics and operation of private pensions, including both pension funds and individual retirement accounts.
Institutions previously sponsoring one of these centres will continue to receive publications and have access to closed-door workshops relating to that centre’s research area. New Sponsors will be able to choose whether they want to support CAREFIN as a whole – getting access to a full array of research outputs – or prefer to focus on one of the areas previously covered by individual research centres (i.e.: banking and finance, insurance or private pensions).
